News from Detmold: The festival is on!

Hello from Detmold and welcome to the festival week!

We are starting the 20th year of the festival today. You are going to see dozens of movies from directors from all around the world. If you wanna make sure not to miss any special piece, check out the programme on our website. We really hope you can join us for this amazing event! But if you can’t make it to Detmold during the festival days, don’t worry – you can still watch it online from anywhere in the world! There’s no reason not to tune in for what promises to be a truly magical evening. 🎥

And what are the things you can be looking forward to?

Films for everyone! That is our motto because we truly believe that cinema is an art form that should be accessible to everyone, and we’re so excited to announce that our commitment to barrier-free films remains as strong as ever! 💡

We’ll be kicking things off at 7:00 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (22, 23 and 24 August) with our Barrierefreie section, which will delight you with short films. We’re delighted to tell you that audio descriptions, subtitles and sign language transcriptions will be available. We’re also pleased to say that the Stadthalle and Cafe Cup facilities will be barrier-free to facilitate access for everyone.

There’s no better way to enjoy movies than by talking with the people who made them! 🧐 On 24 August from 20.00 to 24.00, we’ll be holding a Q&A session with the film directors of the festival. You’ll get the chance to find out all about how to make a short film and how to find the best inspiration! The event will take place in the Stadthalle, in a quiet and conducive environment for the colloquium. 🗣️

If you thought that after all the screenings we would be too tired to party, you were wrong! We’re still going strong and ready to have a great time together! 🥳

We’d love to see you all at our party on Friday, August 23! It’ll kick off at 22.00pm in Alte Pauline. After five days of lots of emotions and learning, we’re going to treat ourselves to a weekend full of music, fun and an unbeatable atmosphere! Of course, the entrance will be free and we really hope to meet you all there! 🫡

We’re so excited for Friday night and we’re ready to give it our all! But we also want to make sure we’re ready for the new film cycle on Saturday, which will begin at 16.00pm in the Stadthalle. We’re going to make this weekend an unforgettable experience! 🙌

Stay tuned!
