What we mean when we talk about inclusion

 

 

The project promotes a sense of community, regardless of different origin or physical impairment. We give the opportunity for barrier-free encounters.

We create and give room for joint design, promote joint learning successes and results, which later in life lead to new encounters without mental barriers. During the work, a healthy amount of self-confidence and pride to have contributed to the cultural growth of the environment and thus to belong to it, will develop.

In concrete terms, the participating young people expand the ability to recognise their own resources and test alternative courses of action with the help of educators. They learn how they can establish perspectives for their future life planning, as well as how to actively participate in the inclusion and integration process. Integration process and to interfere in the issues that affect their own way of life and people in similar situations. In this way the participants learn from and with each other.

The team of educators also grows through regular meetings and reflections, for preparation and follow-up of the workshops, thus creating a solid framework for learning.

New contacts, especially with people from other cultures or physical and/or psychological disabilities promote understanding and cohesion in the community. This happens not only within the framework of the workshop participants, but also in their environment. The dissemination of the new knowledge in the families and surroundings helps to reduce prejudices, since a change in the behavior of a person also affects the behavior of the person’s immediate surroundings.

The publications of the knowledge developed in the workshop and the dissemination of this knowledge on the Internet and through public closing events ensure that the topic of a “prejudice-free community” is taken into account in the wider population. In this way, we not only address the participants and their immediate surroundings, but also those who have nothing else to do with this area of life.

Since we work together with regional, national and also partly international press, the topics of integration and inclusion remain in the general memory through our work.

In order to reach as many people as possible, we strive, through the cooperation with schools and youth and university groups, in various activities, to found initiatives that will organize their own actions from now on.

            • Making new, friendly connections through encounters in a space of acceptance and understanding
            • Improvement of language skills in English and German
