Objectives of the Training Course

1. Practical part: Experiencing a series of exercises with different constituents of the arts, discovering
own approach to teaching and learning, becoming more self-aware and developing a creative way
of expression and developing the personal motivation to use LTA approach.

  

2. Analyzing the experience: Becoming more aware of the power of LTA for promoting holistic
development – learning from own emotions and also discovering it from a theoretical point of view.

3. Conceptualizing: Exploring opportunities for including art as an approach and/or a tool in youth work
and discovering what competencies it could develop in young people.


4. Developing skills in designing and implementing learning activities for/with youth that would be
based on consciously chosen learning elements of art that develop concrete competences.


5. Sharing experience from the training course and developing ideas on follow-up activities on using
learning elements of art in youth work in local and international projects.

we are pleased to inform you that we will use the knowledge and experience we have gathered with you to carry out the training course “LEARNING THROUGH ART”, which is financially supported by Erasmus+.

We are delighted and proud to announce that the trainer of the project is Ceyda Özdemir.

We would like to thank you all for your contributions and hope that the cooperation that we have started in the projects in Berlin, Şirince and / or Istanbul will continue in the future.

Here is some background information:

The training course “Learning Through Art“ is a project that carries out the results of previous project studies, which were attended by our team of the Kultur und Art Initiative e.V.:

Since 2017 the following three workshops as part of the project series titled “Creating Bridges of Tomorrow – Creative Networks and Visions for Youth Exchange Programmes Between Turkey and Germany” were conducted to promote the sharing of ideas amongst specialists to advance cultural education in youth exchanges and to contribute the Knowledge through Art. The workshops, which funded by the foreign ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany, also intended to construct a sustained dialogue that explores and fosters youth mobility through international cultural exchange.

“Workshop on Cultural Education in Germany and Turkey“
9-12 October 2017, Berlin

For the meeting; held with the initiative of the German-Turkish Youth Bridge (DTJB) and financial support from the German Foreign Office; the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Art (İKSV), and the Federal Association for Arts Education and Cultural Learning (BKJ) and the Federal Association of Drama and Theatre (BAG) in Germany have come together. This collaboration intended to promote the sharing of ideas amongst specialists to advance cultural education in German-Turkish youth exchanges and to contribute to the knowledge about cultural education, cultural exchange, and youth education.

“Education as Co-production Workshop: Learning through the Arts Inside and Outside of the School System in Turkey and Germany“

In collaboration with: Deutsch-Türkische Jugendbrücke, IKSV – Istanbul Kültür ve Sanat Vakfı BAG Siel und Theater BKJ Bundesvereinigung Kulturelle Kinder- und Jugendbildung e.V.

We  had great presenters, workshop leaders and participants, including Ali Nesin, Ceyda Özdemir, Leyla Sakpinar, Selda Asal, Berat Isik,  Aslihan Senel and many others. Looking forward to work together with great colleagues, Leman F. Yılmaz, Zulal Feza  and others.

“Learning Together: Transcultural Cooperation of Artists and Teachers“
20-23 November 2019,  IKSV Alt Kat, Istanbul

The workshop, which is a part of the project series titled “Building Bridges of Tomorrow / Creative Networks and Visions for Youth Exchange Programmes Between Turkey and Germany” with the support from German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was conducted under the coordination of Prof. Dr Kenan Çayır, Director of İstanbul Bilgi University Center for Research and Application of Sociology and Education Studies, Nazlı Çevik Azizi, co-founder of SEİBA International Storytelling Center, and Günalp Turan, Teachers Network Network Engagement Specialist. Assistant director of Boğaziçi University Peace Education Application and Research Centre Aylin Vartanyan, founder of Hasat Association Ceyda Özdemir and BAG General Secretary Ute Handwerg, have contributed to the workshop with their speeches.

We are glad to be able to continue the project with other experts from different countries.
